Navy Pier is ready to get a new Ferris Wheel!
The attraction will be closed on Jan. 19 and 20 as crews kick off construction on the new wheel.
Crews are scheduled to assemble the larger pieces, like the legs, after parts arrive overseas.
Each leg weighs about 36,000 pounds so you can just imagine how much work will go into it.
The new wheel will replace the old one, which was taken apart in October.
It will stand about 50 feet higher and carry 180 more passengers.
It will also be more useful because of the enclosed, temperature-controlled gondalas that can be used year-round.
It should be completed by the summer, so tourists, start planning your trips to Chicago!
